Nice plan, maybe instead of LAX hotel, look into the Sea View Inn in Manhattan Beach only a 10-12 minute cab ride from LAX. One block from the beach, rooms vary from hotel rooms to 2 bedroom apartments, several nearby restaurants. Not a lot of places to eat near LAX other than hotels and fast food.
If you do decide to stay near LAX make SURE your hotel is west of the San Diego Freeway (aka "the 405") otherwise you could end up in Inglewood or Hawthorne (gangs and crime).

Our kids loved dinos and loved the museum at Exposition Park. We also went to the La Brea Tar Pits, saw the California Mammoths, Saber Tooth Cat (not actually Tiger), and a working research tar pit.
It is about a 20-30 min drive between the two museums. The 3-year old will probably be tired but the older ones will love doing both if you can manage it.

My eldest kid (9) loves and is very interested in Dinos, but the youngest is really crazy about them!!
I did not know about La Brea, If you have to choose 1, would you go the the National History or La brea?

I've got to point out that mammoths and such are early mammals and not dinosaurs. So that might be a tipping factor right there.
When we went, the newest version of the dino exhibit was not yet complete, so I can't really say. We liked what we did see, but I assume it's much better now. Take a look at the two websites and also Google maps... If there's any way you can do both--we did. I think we ate at fast food between the two.

Hi people, just to let you know I am bak from Hollidays, and your suggestions were really very helpfull.
From the plan here above I finally made a few changes due to adapt to family requests, tireness:
Sept 13 Arrive to LAX.
Following majority recommendations we will stay at a Hotel in LAX area. It finally was the Holliday Inn, very close to Alamo rent a car lot. Very conveniniet to just arrive, and sleep
Sept 14, morning go to San Diego arrive Homeaway House (already arranged in North Pacific Beach)
That was plan, and we did that. Had breakfast and some walk trought Hermosa Beach, then went sightseing by Palos Altos, lunch in Huntington Beach (I have guessed it was easier to find places on the beach)
Sept 15 to 18: stay in San Diego area for Beaches, Sea World, USS Midway, Zoo.
We finally skipped the zoo, on 17 went to Legoland, on 18 to Coronado.
Sept 19 Legoland (I took Icuy suggestion) and night at Anaheim Hotel near Disney.
Finally wife wanted one day for shopping at Carlsbad, I went to the kids to the beach, found a little place called Moonlight State Beach which was lovely and very convenient!
Sept 20, 21 and 22 Disneyland and California Adventure staying at same Hotel in anaheim. After Disney, going to Newport Beach Hotel
Hotel was the Homewood Suites , by the Toy Story Parking reallyvery confortable and convenient.
Sept 23 wnet to National History Musseum, just passed by Hollywood Bldv 8crazy amount of people) and 24 we went to LAX early
It was a very nive family vacation!!
