Segway Tour of Washington, DC?
Has anyone done a Segway Tour in Washington, DC? I've been hearing about them recently and thought a night tour of the monuments would be fun. Would you recommend doing it? Thanks!

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but whenever I see questions about Segways, I have to share a line from "The Simpsons". We join Kent Brockman's newscast toward the end and this is all we hear: "...making it the second Segway accident in history to claim over one thousand lives."
Love that line!

I did a night Segway tour in DC about a month ago. It was really fun, and it didn't take long to master the Segway.
One thing you might want to know ... we had to lock up the Segways and walk to see the monuments (they're on national park land and motorized vehicles aren't allowed). The tour was about 4 hours long, so you'll still have plenty of time on the Segway. Tour guides are flexible with the itinerary, so if you're more interested in the Segway experience than sightseeing, they will alter the route for maximum riding time.
Also, if you're traveling with kids, there is a minimum age requirement of 16.

No it's just the monument grounds that are off limits. We locked up the Segways near the WWII Memorial and walked from there to the Lincoln Memorial and back. The tour started near the Willard Hotel and we Segwayed from there, past the Ford's Theatre, FBI, Capitol and down the mall until 17th street. After touring the monuments on foot, we got back on the Segways and cruised up 17th St and over to the White House before ending the tour where we started. We drove the Segways on the sidewalks. They were easy to maneuver, and no one on our tour ran over any pedestrians. They were not equipped with lights or horns, but they are very quiet, so you could warn a pedestrian with your voice if you needed to.
