Okay, reading about Zumanity on other posts. This is Cirque de Soleil's new "adult" show at New York New York casino in Las Vegas.

It just opened a couple days ago (August 15)...has anyone seen it, and what did you think?!? Rank it against the others showing in Vegas (O, Mystere) right now. THANKS!

I booked tickets for Nov. 28th. I'll be happy to post a review afterwards.

Definately not like O or Mystere. There is some talent but I would not recommend it. It wasn't for me and the row in back of me walked out.

We just got back from Vegas yesterday. Last week we went to Zumanity and both my wife and I really liked it. It reminded me of a cross between the movie Moulin Rouge and amore typical Cirque performance. It is indeed a new direction for Cirque de Soleil and I would not recommend it as your first Cirque performance (I would recommend Mystere for your introduction to Cirque). As opposed to other postings on this board, no one left this performance early and the crowd gave it a 5 minute ovation at the end. The master/mistress of ceremonies was loud and bawdy (and funny) just like in most cabarets and the featured singer was quite good. This is the fifth Cirque de Soleil show we have seen and it is hard to rank it because it is so differnt from the others, but if you go with an open mind, I think you will enjoy it. There are light snacks and beverages available at the theater. One warning which applies to all Cirque performances, but especially to this one: if you don't want to become part of the show, do not sit in the first two rows.

Now that I have had a chance to review some of the previous postings on this subject, including the one referenced by pdavis, it is apparent that Zumanity has been changed considerably since it previewed. Most of the acts that the posters did not enjoy have been removed/replaced. There are often a number scenes being played out in the background while the main act is in the spotlight, but several of the scenes referenced in the Talk Vegas posting (address listed in pdavis comments)including the "Fire-eating lesbians in leather and the two guys who fight and then end up in a French kiss plus the topless blonde and a black guy fighting in a cage" are not in the show any more. It sounds like Cirque has listened to the critics and has improved the show considerably. I would be interested in hearing from others afetr they have seen the show.

What is this about audience participation in rhymatic breathing?

Gee, bumper, now you've made it sound interesting, but only if I had seen it before those things were deleted.

Incidentally, Mystere became a bit bawdy the second time we saw it. There is a regular part where the "baby" gets a guy out of the audience and puts him in a diaper. The guy they got out of the audience kept moving back and whispered in the "baby's" ear. When the baby pulled the guys pants down and the guy tugged his shirt down, it became apparent that the guy wasn't wearing any underwear. It was very funny.

The people I have seen pulled from the audience have seemed a bit too smooth. For those that have seen the same Cirque show a few days apart, were the same people pulled from the audience?

I was quite disapointed when a firend told me that he saw the same woman pulled out of the audience at Siegfried and Roy.

Actually it's a combination of both. At O they make a big deal about a guy they get from the audience, but by the end he dives off a high dive or something like that. Clearly he is part of the act. But we talked briefly after the show with a woman who was pulled up on stage in Mystere. She was clearly not a plant. I think you can tell pretty much from what they do whether it is part of the act or not.

I'm planning on seeing it in January....are the front seats better or should I try for something up in the back to get the full stage view?

Great show for adults. My wife and I saw it in Nov. We enjoyed it more than "O" and "Mystere." Much more crowd inclusion in show, quicker, faster, at no time "dragging on and on." Enjoy and get a seat near the front, preferably a sofa.

Interestingly enough, my husband was one of those people pulled out of the audience and whisked away by the clown in the golf cart. I assure you, it was not set up. Once backstage, about 4 people helped dress him up, and then he reappeared on stage a few minutes later. My husband said that you should see what goes on back there--racks and racks of clothing and a hundred people running around. He was really disappointed that they didn't snap a picture for him. I was in the audience dying that I couldn't capture that moment forever.

All in all, the reviews for Zumanity haven't been that favorable. Is it too sexual, or just not that good of a show?

We saw it in late October and enjoyed it. It is VERY sexual, so if you don't want to see that (topless women, simulated sexual acts, etc.) then I would pass. That said, I don't think anything is LEWD. I personally liked Mystere more, but if you've already seen that, then Zumanity is a good option.
