Seeking Kihei/Wailea Condo

My family-2 adults, 3 grammar school children-is going to Maui late November 2003. Please recommend a condominium complex, low-rise and low-key, cum website, on or very near a snorkeling beach in the area. $2000/week, +/-. Would consider West Maui condo at or very near Lahaina or Kaanapali, but access to petite beach for small swimmers is crucial. Thank you.

We were in Kihei the first week of Dec and visited several beaches. The one we liked the most was in Kapalua - it's known for snorkeling but I was looking for a beach where one wouldn't be pulled in by the waves and found it there. I did not find a gently, lapping shoreline anywhere, however. Guess that's just the nature of the ocean. We did love the warm water though! There are several internet sites for condos - just do a search and lots will pop up. Kihei is very convenient - central location is good. Have a great time.

Kihei has many, many condo complexes, and the area has done a good job of maintaining 3 popular beaches right in the town. They are called the Kamaole Beaches 1, 2, and 3. I believe the Kamaole 3 beach has a nice park setting with large grassy area and some playground equipment that the kids can use in case they tire of the beach. Beaches at all 3 Kam beaches are kid friendly. One suggestion for a Kihei condo is Maui Hill resort. It has 1,2,and 3 bedroom units and a very nice pool area. The one bedroom condos have 2 bathrooms which is nice. The grounds are tropical and very well maintained, as are the units. Very near to Kamaole Beach 3.

Thank you Yvonne, Joe and Brenda for your advice. We last visited the area in 1994, which coincides with the year we were blessed with our oldest child. We've long wanted to take our [extremely well-behaved] children to Hawaii and hope their parents and fellow passengers hold up well on the half-day flight. Mahalo.

We love Grand Champions Villas in Wailea. The complex is quiet and uncrowded and the units are very large.
