Sedona, Grand Canyon and in Between

My friend and I are going to Sedona April 20th for five days. We're planning a one day trip to the Grand Canyon, a Pink Jeep tour around Sedona, and then we're trying to decide what else. We'll be renting a car in Phoenix and driving up. I've never been to Sedona--or to Arizona for that matter, so we'd really like to maximize the experience without exhausting ourselves. Does anyone have any suggestions about what to see along the way to Sedona or the Grand Canyon? Best touring companies, experiences, anything you can think of. Thanks!

Both Montezuma's Castle and Montezuma's Well are interesting little side trips--both enroute north of Phoenix. Jerome is another possibility, close to Sedona, an old copper mining town. The desert should be in bloom, so take time to enjoy it--maybe tour the botanical gardens in Phoenix.

Definitely go to Jerome and Montezuma's Well. Also consider a Verde Railroad journey.

Thanks a lot everyone. What a great post Michelle. We're scheduled for the Broken Arrow tour as well. Perhaps we shouldn't eat at the Javelina Cantina the night before?? Kidding.
We also have reservations for Sunday brunch at the Yavapai which is a place that TahitiTams recommended. Sounds like we're on the right track... Several of you mentioned Jerome. Besides having lunch at the Asylum what are the highlights there? I'll check further into Montezuma Castle and the railroad. Thanks again.
