Seattle: Need a great wine store

I am tasked with putting together wines for a tasting in Seattle and need a recommendation for a great wine store with a large selection and knowledgeable employees. I am not looking for a Costco or World Market type of place but rather something along the lines of BevMo in California.

Any suggestions appreciated!

European Vine Selections on 15th Ave East (Capitol Hill)

Ditto Pike & Western suggestion, but I like the people at EVS much better, personally speaking.

I checked out all three and only one lists their wines online. And that is a very limited selection.

I actually need to pre-order and pick up or have delivered to my hotel as I am arriving the night before the tasting dinner.

Thanks for the suggestions so far and please keep them coming.

Send an email to Esquin Wine Merchants with what you're looking for and they should be able to put together a suggestion and deliver as needed. They are the oldest and largest merchant in Seattle. Unfortunately few merchants have much listed online.

Larry's used to have a great wine department. They were bought out by Metropolitan Market. I'd give them a call:

Metropolitan Market
100 Mercer St.
Seattle, WA 98109

Take your guests to the restaurant 'Purple' its a place downtown that has a huge column of wine bottles twisting up inside a spiral staircase and its pretty impressive.

I know I made other suggestion, but I think Esquin is the place you are looking for.

Kfusto, this may be a David against Goliath thing, but always liked selection, great prices and VERY helpful staff at 'Pete's' a small location/legend on Lynn near Lake Union. They had a Bellevue location too. Haven't been for awhile but site is http://www.petes.cc/

Thanks everyone. We generally shop in a homegrown wine store here in FL so I will explore all my options. I prefer to buy boutique wines that are not commonly available.

Pete's Market wine department staff is GREAT. Extremely helpful. I'm not sure their selection is as exotic as what you may be seeking.

I don't know if this is something she'd do or what it would cost, but I know a woman here in Seattle who is an independent sommelier/consultant. If you're not able to find the assistance you need long-distance from one of the stores suggested, she might be a good go-between. If you'd like me to ask her, feel free to email me.

Not to ask a redundant question, but did some people follow the thread?

"I am tasked with putting together wines for a tasting in Seattle and need a recommendation for a great wine store with a large selection ..."

"I actually need to pre-order and pick up or have delivered to my hotel as I am arriving the night before the tasting dinner."

While we all have places we love to go, some are just not suitable to the task here.

In addition to Esquin, and others mentioned, there are other local shops. But I did find one in Bellevue at MadWine that has online listings and does deliver.

One more, but more focused on WA & OR wines, with some others.
