Seattle June 1st?
My 8-year-old son and I wish to go to Seattle the first of June. What is the weather like at that time of year? Will he enjoy it or should I pick somewhere else to visit? Should we expect mostly rain? Thanks for helping us make a great vacation.

If you want to go to Seattle - GO! If you try to find the perfect time, weather wise, you'll never get there. There are so many things to see and do, weather shouldn't be a factor. Do your research, especially for kid friendly things, so that you'll have options for different weather conditions. I visited last year during the first week in June and it was drizzly, sometimes, but not enough to curtail any activity. June of this year could be completely different. Enjoy Seattle!

I've lived in Seattle for 30 years, and that time of year is as good as any to visit. It might rain......then again it might not!!
And in those 30 years, I've felt the need to use an umbrella just 4-5 times I think. Except for the occasional storm during the winter (like recently), our "rain" is just usually a mist, or light shower, compared to the big storms complete with lightning, thunder that the rest of the country gets (I've lived in ND and Calif., and my husband NY and Calif. so we know about weather!)
It probably will be very pleasant then. And there'll be lots to do that your son should enjoy, including visiting Pike's Market Place, the waterfront, Pioneer Square, taking a ferry ride. And we have our own lingo up here - if it's a clear day you'll hear us say "the mountain is out today", meaning you can see Mt. Rainier. Your son probably would enjoy seeing Mt. St. Helens too. Also the Space Needle. And Seattle Center has lots of things for kids too. I think you'll have a wonderful trip. Dress casual, bring lightweight raingear, a camera and you're all set!

While I can't guarantee the weather, Seattle tends to get very little rain from June through August (the three driest months of the year). Even when it does rain, it's most likely to be a misty drizzle. In addition to the ferries, the mountains, Pike Place, the Space Needle, and Seattle Center, there's Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, Pacific Science Center, Museum of Flight, professional baseball (Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez are very popular), and (as they say on TV) much, much more. Seattle is a great place to take a vacation.
