Has anyone been to Lanai or Molokai?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Hawaii in April. We are thinking of going to Lanai or Molokai for most of the trip. I am aware that there is not much to do on these islands. We are looking for a vacation to relax and a place that is not touristy. On our honeymoon almost a year ago we went to the Seychelles Islands and they were very uncommercialized. Has anyone been to these islands? Also are inter-island transfers very time consuming?

WE STAYED ON LANAI LAST YEAR:4DAYS AT THE LODGE AT KOELE (GORGEOUS UP-COUNTRY,VERY UPSCALE RESORT), AND 4 DAYS AT MANELE BAY RESORT (BEAUTIFUL OCEANSIDE SETTING).BOTH HOTELS SHARE FACILITIES AND WILL SHUTTLE YOU BACK AND FORTH.TWO GREAT GOLF COURSES ON THE ISLAND. DON'T MISS EATING AT "THE DINING ROOM" AT THE LODGE. ......ALOHA

Lanai has better luxury resorts (Lodge at Koele and Manele Bay) than Molokai. Neither island has much to do. Why don't you spend a few days on Maui while you are in the neighborhood. Maui is the best.

LOTS more info about Maui sights, hotels, activities, restaurants, etc, in the 30-page paper you can read or print from the link at this web site:

Forgot to answer your question about interisland transfers. The flight from Maui (or from Honolulu) to either Lanai or Molokai takes about 30 minutes. Cost is about $70 per person EACH WAY.

I've been to both and would suggest Molokai over Lanai. Lanai was a pineapple plantation until just a few years ago, and every bit of vegetation on the island was ground under in order to plant pineapples. Dole really did a number on the place as an agribusiness; now they're covering it with condominiums. Also, Lanai is very arid by Hawaiian standards.

Molokai is much more lush and tropical, also still relatively untrampled by development and tourists. The Sheraton Molokai has an excellent beachfront location.
