Seattle hotels/trains
Hi - we will be in Seattle for 2 nights in July over a weekend. Some questions:
1) What is a nice hotel for about $150/night? We will not have a car so need a good location close to the sights. Would welcome suggestions.
2) How do we get from the airport to hotel area? Are there trains?
3) What are the must see sights for 2 days?
4) Where is the train station to take Amtrak? Would it be close to the hotel? We will be taking the train to Portland. Any train line recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

There are no hotels near the train station. If there were, they would not be in "a good location close to the sights."

You can take the new light rail train from the airport to downtown. be wure and buy a ticket from the machines before you board--there is no way to buy once you are on board, and if they check tickets, you can be fined.
If you are staying at the Mayflower Park (good choice), you would get off the train at the Westlake stop (underground) and walk 2 blocks to the hotel.
You can take a bus to get back to the Amtrak station; this is in the "ride free" zone. Get on at Westlake Station and off at the International District station.

1) The Mayflower Park and The Warwick are my two favorite hotel recommendations.
2) You can get from the airport to downtown on the new Lightrail or Greyliner hotel shuttle bus, or by taxi.
3) Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square historic district, Smith Tower observation deck, the Waterfront, Seattle Center/Space Needle, Olympic Sculpture Park
4) The train station is in Pioneer Square (at the south end of downtown) it would be within a couple miles of any downtown hotel. There's no special recommendation for trains, you just use Amtrak going to Portland.
