Seattle Hotels before cruise
I have done some research for Seattle Hotels in the center. Eliott too expensive for us. Something with breakfast around the $200.00 a night. Also something with 2 beds in the room. Anyone stayed at the Crown Plaza? Would this be a good choice?

Maryanne, my husband and I opted to stay at the Crown Plaza prior to sailing to Alaska in May of 2003. It's a nice business class hotel and it's on the shuttle route from the airport. When we booked our accommodations, we thought that we might be able to just wheel our bags down to the pier along Alaskan Way, however we ended up taking a cab as the incline was too steep. The area around the hotel is very safe and the location puts you within walking distance of Pioneer Square and the Pikes Market area. There are some nice restaurant options in the market area as well as downhill between the hotel and Pioneer Square. I would stay there again......

Thanks so much for your reply. We would probably just take a cab from the airport. Had knee surgery about 5 months ago so I will avoid the hills when I can. I am leaning toward the Crown Plaza booking. I have been to Seattle before and stayed in the Pioneer Square area and also up near the Space Needle so I wanted something more central to Pike's Market this time.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt on Pine Street in Seattle, and I highly recommend it. It is very close to Pike's Market and, if memory serves me, there is a shuttle of some sort that will take you to the Space Needle. We had a wonderful room, with a view of the Space Needle and Lake Union.
I had had knee surgery (ACL reconstruction) about 9 months prior to our trip, and found the hill leading down to Pike's a bit difficult to walk, but I went slowly and was able to do it with no problem. Just take your time. The walk back up the hill was no problem.
