I am looking for a hotel in Seattle for under $100. Is it possible? We would like to stay somewhere near the double-decker bus route. Or at least somewhere that has easy access to this area. Are we better off staying outside the city and driving in to the bus tour? Are there parking lots in the city? Thanks.

Try Hotwire... since the Downtown is fairly defined, you can bid low and be pretty sure to get a great property...

We are going in September. Do Hotwire and Priceline have the same hotels? Can anyone recommend a good seafood restaurant in this area that's not too pricey (under $30/person)?

The only downtown hotel I know of for that price range is the Moore Hotel (VERY basic place). The only way you'll get a regular nice hotel for that price is by bidding Hotwire or Priceline.

The Warwick is a great place, reasonably priced for Seattle (but more than $100/nigth), and the double-decker Greyliner stops right there.

No I don't think it's better to stay outside the city. Yes there are parking garages & surface lots all over downtown, but they are expensive too.

Try the Sixth Avenue Inn; nothing fancy but it's in a good downtown location and new management did some work on it last year so it's in better shape than it had been. Rates should be just over $100 which is very low for downtown.

I thought Sixth Avenue Inn was being run as a "hostel" now?

You should check out some other sites as well. Recently, I was on a hunt for an inexpensive hotel and someone pointed me to the website, victimsofexpedia.com, and it's horrible how so many people have been cheated! And yes, there is a good amount of paid lots, but you have to drive around to find the cheap ones! Rates can vary from block to block

Thank you for that clarification about Sixth Avenue Inn. I drive by it everyday, and it did look different lately. (Days Inn has been turned into a dorm as well.) So I thought perhaps that information was correct.

There are many parking lots and garages in Seattle. They are all costly.

The double-decker bus follows a route that you can easily walk if you are able or to which you can take public buses (which are free in the downtown area).

Yes, the new management has thankfully fixed it up a bit. But no, it wasn't part of the deal that turned the Days Inn and Eighth Avenue Inn into dorms for Cornish.

For heaven's sake, bid through PRICELINE.com, especially for September (best if it's after Labor Day). You can literally name your own price and you'll probably do fine among 4-star and 3-star Seattle hotels.

Example: a family member is staying at the Westin in mid-town Seattle this week after a base bid of $95 per night. (up from $75 for others staying in town a few weeks ago)

I checked on Expedia and found two hotels in the $100 range that appeared nice: Mediterranean Inn at $104/ni. and Maxwell House at $97/ni. These were "pre-booking special" rates. I hope the Maxwell House is good since it's the one I booked for mid-September! They both got good reviews on TripAdvisor.com, too.

Maxwell House is a fairly new place, I've yet to hear any feedback on it. It's located a bit outside of downtown Seattle, on "lower Queen Anne Hill".

We decided to stay at Sixth Avenue Inn for $110/night. It looks convenient to everything we want to see. Thanks for the suggestions!

i'm in the same predicament and i think we are going to stay at the ace hotel in seattle, the rooms with shared bathrooms are $99 a night. anyone hear anything about this hotel? i heard its in a desirable area. thanks!

Maybe you can pay another $10 and they'll let you share toothbrushes too.

There simply has to be a reason why Priceline was recently observed to be the top performing stock over a five-year period. Their product is very good and it is worth looking into for landing top hotel rooms at affordable prices.

As for the "Ace Hotel", the location is a tiny bit far away from the core of what's going on. Hopefully you'll be in town when the weather is nice, but not too nice. At least most of your walking will be on non-hilly surfaces in that area.

The locals will surely be, um, "interesting" at night... and if you go a block west you can join the day laborers who stand around on street corners most of the day. They'd surely love your shared bathrooms.
