I plan to travel to Tucson in February. I've been there many times, and have done all the Tucson/Tombstone/Bisbee stuff. I'd like to see more of SE Az, but don't know what's cool to see. I like to hike (4 miles or less at a time), birdwatch, sightsee. Not into the party scene. Can anyone give me some tips???

Ramsey Canyon,near Sierra Vista,is great for hiking and birding.A beautiful setting,maintained by the nature Conservancy.There's a B&B right at the foot of the trail.

I agree with Larry. I hate to think that I lived in Arizona almost 40 years before I went there!

I don't know how far it is from Tuscan (because it's closer to Phoenix) but I had a wonderful bird watching trip to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. It was great!

Have you been to Karchner Caverns? They are beautiful. There are hiking trails there are well.

Thanks for your suggestions, Chiricahua National Monument is one place I was considering! Where would you stay to spend several days exploring there? Willcox?

We loved Chiricahua Park - we camped out in the snow in Feb 1998 then hiked one of the trails through the canyon. It was truly spectacular! We also stayed at Ramsey Canyon at the B&B which is run by the Nature Conservancy. Great place to stay with several species of hummingbirds visiting the numerous feeders around the b&b. Hiking in Ramsey Canyon is also very nice.

You might check out the Biosphere, about 25 miles north of Tucson.
