Scottsdale lodging help needed

We will be in Scottsdale next week with our 14 and 17 year old daughters. We are thinking of staying in Marriott Suites Old Town. Location seems good and it got good reviews on tripadvisor. Would welcome any comments.

We stayed there last August and thought it was a nice hotel. It's just across the street from Old Town.

Excellent location. Across the street is the Scottsdale Mall. Nice green park like area, restaurants, shade trees, performing arts center, library etc. Good restaurants/night life, galleries all around you, especially across Scottsdale Road.
Be glad to answer any specific questions...if I can.

While, I have never stayed at the Marriott Suites Old Town, I have stayed in the area many times. It is a great location. I'm sure your daughters will LOVE the Fashion Square Mall which is nearby. Actually, there is lots of good shopping in Scottsdale. You may want to visit Kierland Commons - just go North for a few miles on Scottsdale Road from Old Town - you can't miss it. Great shopping, a Cheesecake Factory - big fun!

I've been to Scottsdale many times and love it. Good weather, shopping, eats, scenery, culture, etc.

Have a great time!

Thank you so much everybody think we have made a good choice. We are looking forward to our visit. My daughters love to shop so they should be very happy. Any restaurant suggestions ($25 to $30 per head). We like most types of food.

Drive up to Carefree, 15 min north. There are 2 restaurants that are good; The Satisfied Frog & The_____Toad.

Check the rates at the Fairmount Princess. They run some fabulous special rates in the summer. We paid $250.00 per night for a huge room, on the golf course. $100.00 of that was a food allowance. It was well worth it as this hotel had 4 gourmet restaurants.

Hi,

You can find some nice vacation homes and Vacation Condos to stay at the below website in Scottsdale. I have booked a home through them in the Past.

All the best.

pass on the two carefree restaurants. The food is pedestrian. The location that you have selected is a good one. Consider a visit to Los Sombreros, quite near to your hotel on Scottsdale road. Terrific - a local favorite. Take the girls to Ranch Market for lunch - they'll feel like they've been to Mexico. Truly, trust me on this one. It's a huge hispanic grocery store with one entire aisle that's food and picnic tables. Four locations - 16th & Roosevelt closest to your hotel. The restaurants within walking distance of your hotel are not too great, but Bandera does a very nice job, esp. the rotisserie chicken (sounds bland, but delicious). Malee's Thai is unauthentic Thai, but very tasty. Frank & Lupe's Mexican has many fans. AZ 88 has some tasty food, but not very regional. Z'Tejas at Fashion Square is well worth a visit.

Roaring Fork which is in an office building (ground floor) is great...the bar serves happy hour food...get there early to grab a table or pounce on one as one opens up. James Beard best chef southwest runs this restaurant..."best hamburger in phx during happy hour at bar.
Despite its cheesy name, my big fat greek restaurant is located across scottsdale road...good, fun food.
Grimaldi's pizza (from Brooklyn is also across the street).

First of all The Satisfied Frog is in Cave Creek not Carefree. Secondly there is no way you could ever make it from your location in 15 minutes. It is a great place, but I don't want to mislead you by the distance you have been given.

I work in Tourism in Phoenix and we do get a lot of people that make the drive north in Scottsdale to the Pinnacle Peak Patio. It's a western steak house. And, if you arrive wearing a tie they will cut it off. The kids might enjoy going there.

Your hotel is fine. It is a great location. However, I want you to think about changing to a hotel that offers more water fun. It is hot here now and a dip in a great pool is lots of fun. Although it's not in Scottsdale and not near anything worth walking to you might want to try the Point Hilton Squaw Peak. Great waterpark with a lazy river. The hotel is nice.

Have a great trip.
