AHHHHH Portland in late summer..ain't it grand!! Good homesteading to you and yours and find your way to a Stroehecker's. The Rose Garden should be glorious. Doesn't the Whole Foods just blow your mind and shouldn't we all have sheets from French Quarter??!!
My favorite poodle (brown standard) lived out his days in Portland. He loved it!!

Hello Scarlett - so glad to hear that you made it safely. I agree that a road trip across America is a wonderful experience. Each time I take a road trip, I can't help but think of the settlers, hitting the trails with all their belongings hitched to horses and wagons. And no air conditioning! However did they manage?
And isn't it nice that you have the freedom to move wherever you want in this vast country! Enjoy your new life out west.
Happy trails to you!

Yes, I am wafting through our new loft apt. Just as I imagined..
It really was a camel LOL A small brown camel with one hump..maybe there were more elsewhere, he stood alone, by the fence, watching the cars going by, kinda sad, really...maybe he wanted to travel too..after all, is a camel not a traveling animal?
We were usually alerted to wildlife along the highway/roads by Pup who would perk up, sometimes growl or in the case of some horses, yodel.
I don't know where he learned to yodel like that , but Switzerland might be his next trip. Or I will have to buy him his own horse.
Pam, French Quarter is having a big Sultry Sale right now- I got pillow cases, some soap and a gardenia candle...lovely~ And Pup is brown too ((&))
Today we venture out to a neighboring town, easy- one highway (freeway?) and back.
I love the streetcars here, if you can't walk that far, ride a streetcar...I love it here
Oh, Summer weather...today will be in the 80s..last night was chilly, no a/c needed. We won't discuss the temps in the town we just left behind..we will just be very happy that we are not suffering that heat here ...Seamus, I will get out that Hermes scarf right away

Pup would look smashing in an Hermes scarf, don't you think? ;-)
Any chance (just because I remember this from the brand name of a package of dates, or was it cake mix?) what you saw was a dromedary? I'm sure some Fodorites will set us both straight on what's a camel and what's a dromedary and what's a good cigar.

mms,
Must be the weather.
Were were in Vegas a few weeks ago and I had a craving for a Tequilla Collins.
In the Vegas airport I had a couple of Bloody Maria's then last week in Squaw Valley, at an open bar with top shelf "Teekiller", 2-3 more.
I forgot how mellow tequilla was.
