I promise my mother and I will do our best to refrain from "fixing to" jokes. We're from Texas, so we talk that way anyway. And I didn't even know that Midnight was a movie about Savannah. Now I'll make sure and read the book before I go. Thanks for the tip!

I think Savannah is a great town to visit. And I stayed (egads!) right next to the "Victorian" part of town and even walked in the area.
It is very authentic old southern in many ways, but there are plenty of tour buses with loud broadcasting tour guides if you need assurance that the town caters to tourists. Not to mention plenty of higher priced restaurants. If you like exploring interesting old homes and buildings, checking out cool historical cemetaries, seeing lots of art (go to the art school, the art store and galleries in the area), walking along a lively (but not *too* lively)riverfront, eating grilled oysters and sipping wine at an outdoor cafe and the like, you'll enjoy Savannah. If you prefer Starbucks and more structured enviornments you won't.
But if you do go, get up early in the morning and take a walk to have it to yourselves.

Hi!
I'm moving to Savannah, due to a transfer in my job. I'm originally from Sweden but have lived in Florida the past 3 years. It was educating to read all the responses. Any locals online that could give me a tip or two about where to look for apartments (what areas)?. Thanks,
Lina
