Savannah Carriage Rides

Is there a particular company that you used and enjoyed?

No, not really. Both companies pick up at City Market.

I do have a strong preference for walking tours. Dirk of Savannah Rambles is wonderful. No gimmicks but a great guide, the best tour guide I've had in any city.

I agree Savannah is a good walking city. Well, you might get an overall view via carriage. Noticing some use sedgeways. But don't rely on free Dot transportation for sightseeing because windows are cloudy...but great for hop on hop off.

Didn't do a carriage ride after all. We have walked everywhere.

We did a fantastic walking tour with Dirk yesterday. I read about him awhile ago from one of your long ago posts, starrs. Great recommendation! We really learned a lot about Savannah history and architecture.

And if you're hungry I took Starrs suggestion of The Pink House to heart just last week and it was delicious! Of course lunch for two was over $70.00 plus tip and our friends lunch for two was over $90.00 plus tip but that did include wine!

Oh, good cd! I'm so glad! It is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere and it is always good.

cpg, if you are still there be sure to visit the tavern in the basement of the Pink House. Now that there's a chill in the air, they'll have a fire going in the big fireplace. At night they will probably have someone playing the grand piano. Order drinks and appetizers or a dessert and enjoy the great food from the Pink House in one of the oldest spaces in the state. Love that place

A co-worker flew in to travel with me a couple of weeks ago and we had lunch upstairs in one of the historic rooms and then went back at night for drinks and appetizers. A GREAT day!
