Sarasota/Siesta Key Restaurants

There are many excellent restaurants in the area. These are my personal favorites. Upscale choices would be Summer House (continental) on Siesta; Cafe L'Europe(continental), Osteria(northern Italian), both on St. Armands;Poseidon and Euphemia Haye (amazing dessert loft)on Longboat Key; Mediterraneo in downtown Sarasota. For a good breakfast or lunch on Siesta, try the Broken Egg. Another good lunch spot is the Main Bar downtown. There are several good little casual restaurants in Siesta Village. Really, there are many more choices than you have time for. I'd check back as the time gets closer--new ones are always opening and current ones change.

Your best bet is probably to walk through Siesta Village. Most places post thier menus, so you can get a good idea of what they have. The same goes for most places on St. Armands Key. We like casual seafood, so our favorites are the Salty Dog and Captain Curt's on Siesta and Phillipi Creek Oyster Bar in Sarasota. By the way, most of the restaurants on Siesta have takeout. We sometimes eat too much for lunch (can't resist seafood), and just get takeout appetizers or one dinner to split for dinner.

I agree with the other posters...all great choices...On Siesta itself, at the other end from Siesta Village is Turtles...a very nice mid-priced place with great early bird specials (it IS Florida after all)...I also suggest a drink and the coconut shrimp at the Boathouse at the Hyatt Sarasota...

There is a restaraunt called Bob's Boathouse on the bayside of Siesta Key near the Stickney Point Bridge. Great atmosphere, seating inside and outside, good food, reasonable prices. It has been awhile since I have been there, but there used to be a couple of sandwich shops called Anna's, one in the village and one south of the Stickney point bridge, and they were great! As previously posted, there are lots of casual little restaraunts in the Village, lots of outdoor seating etc.
Longboat is a bit of a drive, but a beautiful drive at that, and there are some wonderful restaurants out there, definitely try to go one night.
