Meeting my two daughters, their husbands and my sister in Santa Fe, plus wife and I in April. We will be there on the 14th thru the 21st. Daughter has a time share to swap and is attempting to get two units. But we alll will be staying at the www.lasbrisasdesantafe.com My sister/wife and I will be sharing a two bedroom, two bath for $100 pernight and we are getting ready to make a reservation. I have seen good comments about this complex. Has anyone used these accommoditions? Location is a bit outside the old town area, but we are all walkers. Thoughts? Richard

Sounds like a great deal! I don't know those units but you're just a half mile to the things I'd like to see. LOVE Santa Fe. Have a great family trip.

Will you be renting a car, as there is much to see beyond the plaza?

So that gives us a lot of flexibility. Our first stop will be Albuquerque with three of us for one night to visit a cousin. Yes, lots to do and see. Will the high road be open? I have seen where it may not be the best time to visit, but it's my daughters Spring vacation. Whatever happens I know we will love Santa Fe. Richard

I was able to pull up a cached version from 10/21/11. [kind of weird] but even then, only the homepage.

One thing that always concerns me in these kinds of timeshare/condo rentals is that each unit is individually owned and that means that there could be a wide variance of what the actual unit looks like. But for the price, it seems pretty good.

We have had little snow the past few winters, so you should be ok with the high road [I assume you are planning a day trip to Taos].

It's true, April is not the best time to be here, but what the heck - it's a vacation!

We've stayed at El Farolito, which is also on Galisteo, a block closer to the Plaza. Should be about a 10-12 minute walk for you. I don't remember seeing Las Brisas, but it's in a nice, safe neighborhood, and from what I see on the website - http://www.lasbrisasdesantafe.com/ - you're getting a great deal.

Richard, I've been there over Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day. Most of those trips were combination trips with Durango (I Durango and Santa Fe). I've never been in April but I bet it will be wonderful! Since you are there for a week, consider driving up over the high desert to Durango - especially if you've never been to Mesa Verde NP. The only scary driving we did was the drive to Ouray - but it was gorgeous and we went VERY slowly.

If you go to Durango, I'd make it an overnight trip. Just get an inexpensive room there.

Hi stairs and DebitNM; We have been to Mesa Verde, probablly from Sedona. But the high road to Taos is a must do. Question; From Santa Fe are there any preserved towns of the 'old west', 1850's vintage? Thanks islandaze. The web site isn't showing the price my daughter received last week over the phone of $100 dollars for a two bedroom, two bath unit. Instead of calling, I will e-mail them and suggest that cost. Also will mention AAA and senior citizen.

I'm not familiar with Las Brisas, but we stayed at the Pueblo Bonito B&B which is in the same area. It's a pretty easy walk to the Plaza or the Railyard district from there.

The high road to Taos should be open unless we get a really late snowfall.

Cerrillos looks and feels like an Old West town. It's only about 25 miles from Santa Fe, but unless you're planning to drive the Turquoise Trail, I don't know that I'd go out of my way to see it.

Madrid is worth the trip down the Turquoise Trail, along with a stop atop the Sandias. It was a ghost town for a long time, then hippies found it and started getting it going again. Madrid has some quirky stops and The Mine Shaft Tavern is a fun place to eat. It is not pronounced like the city in Spain [MA-drid], but MAD-rid.
