Santa Barbara Hotel Recs
I'm traveling to Santa Barbara in August for a mother/daughter trip. Our family has been there several times before & we'd stay at the Miramar Hotel, which was on the beach, darling beach cottages, etc. But, the hotel is under new ownership & undergoing renovations. So, I'm looking for recommendations. From the little research I've done, there are no beachfront hotels, except the Four Seasons, which is out of my price range. I'm looking for a nice boutique hotel close to the beach, pool. I'd like to do this trip economically, so I'd like to stay under $300/night.
Thanks, in advance, for your recommendations!

August is going to be tough, it's right around the corner. Maybe if you let us know what you find with availability, we can help you drill down.
Montecito Inn is right next to the Four Seasons, near the Miramar, but not on the water, you have to walk about a block (down the street adjacent to The Miramar.) Its sister property Coast Village Inn is across the street.

There will be a 3-night minimum on weekends at just about every hotel.
Mid-week rates at the Harbor View Inn and the Fess Parker would be just at your budget, but taxes might put them just over $300.
Leave the beach and your options increase.

I just went to Santa Barbara and stayed at the Santa Barbara Inn. It was directly across the street from the beach/bike path and a quick drive to downtown (which was nice but lots of closed up shops and nothing really special). I agonized for MONTHS over where to stay and I could not have been happier with my choice. It's worth every cent.

Thank you ALL for your great suggestions. I checked out each hotel you mentioned, and they fit exactly what I was looking for. A few hotels were booked for our dates, but I got lucky and made a reservation at the Santa Barbara Inn. Thanks, Skiergirl...appreciate your review, & from what I can see on the website, it looks like a lovely boutique hotel with a great location. The beach across the street really sealed it AND they had availability!!. I think this will be a great trip and the hotel selection is so important.
Thank you all again. The forum here never lets me down! So grateful.

You are very welcome. Enjoy the SBI-it was lovely! One tip - it costs $19 a night to valet at the hotel. Right across the street is a side street that usually had room. I just left my car there and took Ubers (so cheap) when I went to town or elsewhere). The beach is literally across the street although I would check out Butterfly Beach if you want to sit on it and relax (I don't like sand but I liked seeing the beach AND the bike path was right there too). Have fun!
