Sanibel Inexpensive Accomdations
We are traveling to Florida in January and I would like to stay in Sanibel for one night only on our drive from Key West to Tampa. The cheapest accomodation I could find for one night was the Holiday Inn at $150. Anyone know of a cheaper place that is still on the ocean? Thanks.

Inexpensive and Sanibel do not go together, which is why they charge $6 just to go across the bridge to get there. Most places on the beach are condos and require a week. In fact I'm surprised the Holiday Inn will allow a one night stay. I suggest you grab it at that price!!

Good timing. I just saw on the noon news that three more hotels on Sanibel including the popular Sanibel Inn have delayed their after-hurricane reopenings until February or March. I'd suggest you grab that Holiday Inn quick before the cancelled out people from those other places beat you to it.
By the way, South Seas Plantation has announced they won't reopen until spring of 2006!

I stayed at the West End Paradise earlier this year and loved it. It is one of the lessor expensive places to stay on Sanibel. I can not recommend them enough. I even got a Christmas card from the owners last week. Customer service like they provide you don't find much anymore.
