Sanibel?

My family is going to Sanibel Island for spring break (6 adults 4 kids 11-14yrs). We are trying to decide on accomodations. Does anyone have any information on Casa Ybel? Our other thought is the Sundial, but we are a bit wary of the "large" condo atmosphere. Please help.

We've stayed at Casa Ybel twice and both times were more than happy with our accommodations. Both were nicely furnished, and the screened porches overlooking the Gulf are a delight. Beach in that area is very nice. We were with our two adult aged kids and a one bedroom was ample for us.

For what it's worth, my husband is GM of a 4 diamond hotel in Tampa (only two in Tampa Bay), has a "critical eye" but was quite happy with everything. A word of warning though...I wouldn't make any special effort to dine in their restaurant! Sloooow service and so-so food.

It was a favorite dining spot formy father half a dozen years ago, and it's where I'm going to hide out immediately after I win the lottery. On my visits (only to eat) I found the food, service, prices, surroundings had the perfect mix of casual elegance that made me feel very comfortable. I'd recommend it. Take the kids to Ding Darling Nature Preserve, and down to Everglades City, too.

Check out "Song of the Sea", a Eurpoean style facility with a great beach and free bikes. It's delightful and low key...

The only thing I might suggest is calling now to see what's available. I've been checking other Sanibel boards lately because we, too, will be vacationing there, and it seems that many places are booked for the coming months.
