Sandestin/Seagrove Help Please!
I saw a link from someone on here about the reconstruction of the beaches in Destin/Sandestin just yesterday and I can’t find it today! It had maps that showed which areas of the beach had been completed. Can anyone help?
I ask because I am looking for a condo in the area. I want to stay in a smaller condo complex (we have an infant), one bedroom, with a pool, beachfront, in the $2,000 range for a week in June. I have stayed at the Windancer condo complex in the past, which is very close to the outlet malls in Sandestin. I haven’t been in four years, but the last time I was there, the beach erosion in this area was getting bad. I have also stayed at the Seafarer (close to the Back Porch in Destin) several times and the beach here was good, but I’m not crazy about the location (close to the Back Porch, which is great, but too hard to get anywhere with all the traffic).
I noticed some recommendations for Seagrove in the other posts. I have never driven past Seaside and that was six years ago, so I am unfamiliar with the area. I have searched and it appears that there are really only two options for us in Seagrove ~ the Palms (I am considering ~ any opinions?) and the Dune Villas (look old?). Seaside and Watercolors are out of our price range. I would appreciate any help or recommendations you could provide! TIA!

My understanding is that the beach east of Henderson State Park has been renourished, but I recommend you check the Destin board on Trip Advisor for accurate info.
Check out Maravilla-not far from the outlet mall. It is a nice place, not too big, good location and reasonably priced.
Ft. Walton might be a more affordable option also.
As far as Seagrove, etc. start with these websites:
http://sowal.com/
http://beachesofsouthwalton.com/
If you can afford Destin, you can probably find something on 30A other than in Seaside, Rosemary, and Watercolor, that will fit your budget. Seagrove, Blue Mountain, Grayton, and Santa Rosa would be a good place to start.
If you have further questions, post again. And enjoy the country's most beautiful beaches!!!

Try the Dunes of Seagrove. It is a three story condo complex with three separate buildings, directly on the Gulf. We booked it thorugh resortquest.com last April and again for next month. Very clean and not old at all. Be advised that it is not within walking distance to any shops or dining.

I think you would like One Seagrove Place (www.oneseagroveplace.com). Call ahead to ask about the beach restoration. It has a pool, and you can view the actual unit you would be reserving online. The units can really vary, so shop around the units before deciding on one. The building itself is pretty old but some of the units are really kept in great shape. VERY affordable and plenty of space. Right on the beach. It is a drive to Seaside, though (although a very short one) and a much longer drive to Destin and the outlets.

We rented a condo last summer (first week of August) through VRBO at the Majestic Sun in Miramar. I think we paid <$1500/week. It was a lovely 2 bed, 2 ba with a beautiful balcony and view of the ocean 5 min from the Outlet mall and Destin. If you are interested, let me know and I will post the owner's email address.
