Sand Dollars on Cape Cod
I found a Sand Dollar in 1978 while walking along Nauset Barrier Beach while staying at the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod.
I had never found one before or since even though spending many Spring/Summers at various beaches along the Southern New England Coast.
The Legend of the Sand Dollar and it's Christian markings made me wonder if this marine life specimen is very rare and if I was blessed to find one especially on Cape Cod?

I've found gazillions of sand dollars at Cranes Beach in Ipswich Ma.Every step you take. You need a sand bar and low tide. Old Orchard in Me and also Kennebunk Beach in ME, I have found sand dollars everywhere.
The Outer Cape with the rough surf has not produced much of anything except dead seals.

The only time I've fopund any on the Cape,Gene, was several years ago, after a ocean storm. All along Newcomb's Hollow, the backshore of Wellfeet, the ocean had disgorged them from the depths. It wqas amazing.
My friends tell me they can be found in Nauset Inlet,at low tide but you'll need a boat!
