Zuni Cafe has been on my to-do list for ages, so I've heard about that chicken; I even have the recipe. We have to be at the Orpheum at noon to put our names in the hat for possible Wicked tickets for the matinee. Then we have to return at 1:30 to see if we are among the chosen few. I'm thinking I'd rather have a little more time to enjoy the chicken, which takes the restaurant an hour to prepare. DH and I were perusing the lunch menu on their website today. He'll be happy with the hamburger, but I'm waiting to see what looks good the day we're there.

Betsy,
You will find out at Noon if you got tickets, show is at 2 pm.

The roast chicken takes 1 hour and is well worth it. We had it last year for dinner and it was excellent.

For our lunch this year, I had the burger and DH had a pasta and lamb ragu. We each loved our meals.

Today, the weather was awful!

We had pizza at Delfina which was first class and then had ice cream at Bi Rite Creamery. Creamy and delish.

We went on the SF Library's City Guides tour in the afternoon. We did the Victorian Homes tour led by none other than our very own, Mrs. Stu!

We had a great time and learned so much about this wonderful style of architecture and more about this city that has captured our hearts.

The group was small but enthusiastic and hung in there through heavy rain. Mrs. Stu was a great guide and showed her great love of the city.

Joining us on the tour was none other than Stu Dudley! It was nice to have a familiar face join us on our adventure.

After the tour, Stu and Mrs. were gracious enough to show us around on a private tour! How Lucky can you get - 2 tours in 1 day from both of the Dudley's?

We passed both Danielle Steel's home and Robin Williams home too; no star sightings but they were very impressive homes.

We had a wonderful dinner at Incanto, which had a most unusual menu. Despite the dreary day, we had a grand time.

Deb

Thanks, Deb. Got it about the tickets. Show up at 11:30 to sign up, find out at noon if we scored, lunch until the performance at 2. Maybe there'll be time for chicken after all.

Deb, I am so sorry that is has been so dreary for most of your visit; awful to say to a tourist but "We need the rain."

Any visitor who has the chutzpah--and appetite--for lunch at Delfina, ice cream at Bi-Rite and dinner at Incanto is a winner in my book. I am so glad you've made the most of your visit.

p.s. I used to live thisclose to Incanto and dined there pretty regularly. Every once in a while I'd get adventurous. Tendons are not my friends any longer. Neither is lamb neck. But yes, it's a great restaurant.

I'd LOVE to shoot the breeze with Pammer and Deb while watching the rain come down, cable cars getting turned and sipping a few Irish Coffee at The BV.

Sorry to have missed you 2, it would have been fun!

Well, we found a way to get sunshine and 60 degree temps.

We had to fly home unexpected early this morning. DH's 94 year old mom fell last night just before midnight and broke her hip. She needed surgery this afternoon and luckily it went pretty well. We were home by 5 pm.

The only good news is that we get to go back to SF again, hopefully in better weather.

Just now watching the broadcast of the Amgen crossing the GG - it is hard to believe we drove over it yesterday and walked across it last week!

It's not gonna rain -- it's going to be hot and sunny later in the week. (Maybe there's a reason other than the weather that you topped this, though).

I did top for other reason; she wanted to read about what we did, despite the rain. She was looking for the thread.

That's what I figured - just didn't want her to have to plan for rain.

I've been following weather.com, but they LIED big time two weekends ago. I finally listened to my friends who were looking at the sky and had a great beach weekend. I hope they have it right next week! (Packing a wee umbrella anyway!)

The best way to help is to post a link to this thread on that thread - not necessarily to top this one . . . .

It's not even rainy season! (Won't rain here seriously, enough for an umbrella, until late October or early November). California is different from other places in the country. It rains between late October and early May, and then doesn't rain but maybe one time between May and late October. If you have room, and just can't be without it, fine, but if it were me, I'd just buy one if ended up needing one (it would be like taking hiking boots on a trip to Rome - just in case!!)

Oh - I see you DID post a link on that thread. So why top this one?

Centralparkgirl: trust us -- It will not rain next week - even in October the chance of rain is miniscule, but in Sept - ain't gonna happen . . . .
