San Francisco hotel at he whraf

Stuck with staying with a group at the Sheraton at the Wharf. Hate eating in hotels. Are there any places within walking distance for breakfast? Is it worth a visit to Sausalito? Going for the Charger-Raider game.

Janet,
You will have absolutely no problem finding places to have lunch and dinner. I can't remember breakfast places... We stayed there in June '04. I do think that Sausalito is worth a visit. We had lunch there and enjoyed the view.

Local here. I would advise doing everything possible to leave the wharf area to eat. That is almost exclusively a tourist area with some terrible restaurants; no good ones come to mind. You can go to Union or Chestnut Street (not too far) for a MUCH better selection of restaurants, and a local scene.

The only breakfast place I can think of in that neighborhood is the IHOP.

I am not big on Sausalito myself - nice views, but it doesn't really do it for me. Just one of those things. A lot of people like it though.

I would choose a trip out to Angel Island for a picnic instead - also great views, nice trails for hiking, and just a good relaxing atmosphere.
