San Francisco Honeymoon Hotels
Hi All,
I'm after some advice please. My wife to be an I are trying to plan our honeymoon to the West Cost. We'll be taking in San Francisco, driving south on highway 1 and hopefully going to Yosemite before ending up in Vegas. My main question is can anyone recommend any hotels in San Francisco for some first time Uk visitors on honeymoon? We'd like to be close to most of the main tourist attractions (as we'll probably only be there for a few days), but close to Union Square as we've heard this is a good base.
All suggestions gratefully received
Many thanks

The St. Francis and the Sir Francis Drake are both in the Union Square area.
The Hyatt Embarcadero is also in a great location. Across the street from the Ferry Building and the water. It is also at the foot of California street. Our Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has great transportation from the SF airport to the front door of the Hyatt for $8.20 each. It is also at the end of the cable car route that can get you to Union Square. If you walk across the street you can catch a ferry to Sausilito. Great location. Well positioned for sights and restaurants and ease of use. Walking distance to the park production of Peter Pan that just arrived from London.

I think Union Square is a reasonable location for a tourist. The Embarcadero area is also pretty good. The Ritz Carlton is my favorite hotel in the area if it is in your price range. My two daughters are taking their out of state visitors there this weekend.
The JW Marriott and Campton Place are also next to Union Square and are IMHO a cut above the Hyatt, Westin, Hilto, Nikko etc. My new favorite hotel in San Francisco is the new Fairmont Ghiradelli sq but it is not as convenient to touristy sites as the downtown area.
