Shanghainese-Looking forward to your report on E&O tonight. They all look good to me. I am probably leaning toward Americano because I love anything with a view but E&O looks good. Really, though, looking at the prices, they don't seem that much cheaper than the Grand Cafe. Sorry-don't mean to add to the confusion.
Anyway, anything is fine with me. I will probably be staying in Union Square so those restaurants are a little more convenient, however, I love being by the water. Faina, if we go to the Embarcadero, I can give you a ride.
Shainghainese and Faina-Thanks for doing all the leg work (or maybe tasting work!!)

Paula -- You're welcome. We didn't dine Fri night, just had drinks/apetizers. I do not recommend any restaurants under the same ownership if I hadn't been there 3 times and pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. Even if I like a place and ET had an unhappy experience, I do not publicize it.
Faina -- I'll be very busy the next 2 weeks at work and playing host to visiting relatives and friends. Except for fast food joints, I'll go anywhere, just let me know. I'm still offering to make reservations as I'm on some of the computer lists. Just e-mail me.
I suggest when the location is selected, re-post again, perhaps more Fodorites can attend. After all this chatter, no wonder the vedy smaht Mels thought the GTG was yesterday. Heee, I need 40 winks now ...

Oh, Bill, no joke! we should take lessons
Are we down to 2 restaurants: Americano and E&O? Why don't we vote? Pick one: 1) Americano 2) E&O
My vote is for E&O as the price seems to be lower for small plates on the menu... am I wrong?
Cobbie: is it possible for you to take Amtrak or BART, and somebody will pick you up in San Francisco? Or I can meet you, and we'll take a bus.
Bring LoveItaly along! And if she resists, hijack her

ET -- Pleeez let me know how you take care of skunk problems humanely and don't get sprayed with skunk cologne. Taking my visiting cousin and friend to Shanghai 1930 tonight, the menu has changed with price increases of course.
