San Francisco expert needed for directions please

We are staying a night at the Edwardian Hotel (1668 Market St.) and I’m trying to find the closest car rental place that we could walk to. There is one real close at 1600 Mission street but I can’t tell if we could really walk there due to it being on Highway 101. Can you walk along this highway?

Another option, which is further, is up Van Ness Ave. Can you walk along this road?

Any others you know of that would work for us?

Thanks!

Check with your hotel. They will know.

Curious, I tried that but the person I talked didn't seem too helpful and said he thought there was one on Van Ness.

Looking at the google maps of the area, it should be an easy walk. Also located at 1600 mission is an enterprise car rental, who advertise that they will come pick you up for no charge.

Van Ness Avenue is definitely a walking street (Highway 101, while freeway in many places, collocates with walking streets through northern San Francisco.)

Enjoy San Francisco.

TerriJ,

Mission intersects VanNess, and part of Van Ness is 101 going through the City. So, I think the Mission location would definitely be walkable - it's not like it's on the frontage road of a major freeway. As to the Van Ness location, there are frequent buses up and down the boulevard if you don't want to walk.

Mission and Van Ness are regular walkable streets, have more car lanes and 3-way traffic lights at some intersections, that's all.
