San Francisco Dining Help
We will be staying at the Argonaut Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf and were looking for some good restaurant suggestions for the area, preferably within walking distance. We like most any type food. Maybe someplace also, for a real nice dinner (we have been to Gary Danko's so would prefer someplace different). Thanks for any help.

La Folie, although it is not within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf, but neither was Gary Danko's. You might want to qask on the Bay Area Chowhound.

I agree with Michael on both La Folie and the SF Bay Area Chowhound message board.
Unfortunately, IMHO, Fisherman's Wharf has a dearth of good restaurants at all of the price levels. I haven't been, but my husband recently went to Ana Mandara (Vietnamese) in Ghiradelli Square and said it was very good (an alternative to the Slanted Door). If you are willing to walk to North Beach or up Polk Street (the strip between Union and Broadway and beyond - La Folie is in that area), you will have many more options. Both walks are not so bad (but I'm a former NYC resident, so walking 10 blocks is a short walk to me).

A restaurant we like in Ghirardelli Square (that is within walking distance of FW) is McKormick and Kuleto. The food is excellent and the decor interesting. Tables are on "terraces" within the restaurant so that everyone has a fantastic view of the bay.
