San Francisco birthday dinner for a 7-year-old

Hello.

We're taking our daughter to San Francisco for her birthday. Can anyone recommend a kid-friendly restaurant for a special night out? It doesn't need to be upscale - just something a kid would like that won't be unbearable for the adults. Favorite cuisines are Italian, Chinese, and Japanese but we are quite flexible.

Thanks very much!

I would think she would enjoy Mona Lisa in North Beach, or, maybe even more, one of the dim sum places in Chinatown.

Are you driving in? That makes a big difference.
If you want a real old fashioned Italian try Giorgios in the "Inner Rtchmond" district _ Clement and 3rd or so. Parking isn't great but plenty of buses run there from downtown.
It's also a street lined with lots of inexpensive restaurants and Shubert's bakery with AWESOME cakes and pastries.

Scoma's at the Wharf. Tonga Room for atmosphere and Asian menu. Or even the Cheesecake Factory above Macy's in Union Square.

I second the Scoma's recommendation but was going to suggest taking the ferry to Sausalito and eating at the one there and then coming back! Both locations are wonderful but the ferry ride would be fun and add to the experience.

Dim sum is fun and great for kids as it is instant gratification! Yank Sing is one of my favorites.

Ha Ha - Giorgio's was where we went 35 years ago when we wanted cheap pasta ---- and to this day we remember that they used the same red sauce on every dish, including pizza!

Idk. With kids that young, dim sum may be a bad idea. I depends how picky an eater. I know at that age, my daughter would go for rice and chow mein and that was about it.

St Francis Fountain for burgers and a banana split! And the birthday girl gets to stop at the candy counter on the way out of course.
