San Fran or LA for Halloween?

HI Fodors!

I will be arriving in LA Oct 28 and I can't decide whether to stay in LA for Halloween or to make my way to San Fran?
I am a 21 year old Australian girl and I want to experience a real Halloween - street parties, Halloween themed nights at nightclubs, pub crawls, etc.
Initially I thought San Fran would do it best but it seems following the violence in past years it's not celebrated like it used to be.

Throw your thoughts at me!

s I mentioned in my PRIOR post in your other thread =- there are NO steeet parties in SF on Halloween. Too much violence. Please don't come here for that.

It's San Francisco, not San Fran. Please.

Actually your best option for Halloween is NYC -which has a massive Halloween parade in the Village that attracts hundreds of thousands of marchers and watchers. This is very much an adult event (kids can watch - but many costumes and troups of marchers are adult-focused.)
