San Fran Giants game seating ??
**Just splitting a recently posted thread of mine that I realized now has too many subjects, sorry.
My husband and I are planning a trip to San Francisco and Northern CA wine country for a week in late Aug. We will be in San Fran during the weekend and almost all time spent in the wine country will be during the weekdays.
Hoping to take in a Giants game fri, sat. or sun. Haven't bought tickets yet, any suggestions for out of towners—which day, night vs. day game, seating section, maybe a view of the bay?

Book an early evening game - beautiful sunset, nice San Francisco evening weather (which means, bring a jacket).
The cheapest tickets behind the outfield are a lot of fun and a little raucous. But your back is to the bay; however, everyone in this section moves around.
Honestly, most people who attend the games don't even watch, they mostly walk around eating pretty decent ballpark food and people watch. It's a GREAT way to spend a summer evening in SF.
Thus, I wouldn't spend too much for a ticket, unless you are a big baseball fan...

Thanks junioryin! Sounds like a great time.
I'm down for just enjoying the outside and having a few beers, my husband may watch the game a bit more but we both are there more for the "experience"! We're from Chicago so have no issues with a bit of chilly weather
Just wondering what you think is cold?

Cold. We are from Boston so are used to cold, but went to Giants game 3 summers ago (early july) day game. Day was warm, sunny with little wind. However, at seats in Park (somewhere about 1/2 way up on right field side) it was freeezing - I am talking sweatshirt, long pants, plus another layer or 2 under sweatshirt. If you left your seat and went to food area, it was warm - weird weather, I think had something to do with wind off water.

Dear khoffmann:
We live in NorCal and finally went to a game last June for my birthday. I ordered online a few days before so selection was limited. My sister had told me there was not a bad seat in the place and it seems to be true. It just depends how close you want to be.
We ended up off of left field and our seat were very good except for sitting in the sun. We finally moved up about 10 rows to a shady spot. It seems the seat higher up get more shade. So keep that in mind.
Have a great trip!!

How late in late August? The Giants are
not here after the 27th. Weekend games are typically already sold out. The weekend of the 18th they play the Dodgers-
that will be a very tough ticket to get.
The weekend of the 24th they play the Reds.
I would hasten thee to the
Giants website ASAP and see what's avail.
in the Single Game Tickets options-probably not much-so look into the Double Play section where season ticket holders sell single game tickets.
I disagree that "most people who attend the games don't watch"-they certainly do !
For night games, a sweatshirt and a jacket are a good idea. You'll see people with gloves and hats as well.
Good Luck with the tickets !

Thanks all for the info!
We had been looking at the site but were'nt sure if there was a better/worse section to sit in (i.e. at Wrigley field the bleachers are great fun if you are up for baking in the sun all day and getting beer spilled on you—been there done that!!
)
We are coming into town on the 25th and got tickets in the View Reserved section for that night's game. A bit out of the action but behind home plate and looks like an all right view, we can also see the bay (until the sun sets at least!). We will definitely be bringing warm clothing as I hate being cold and miserable at a game.

HI..
Did the same thing you two are doing..stayed at the St Francis for a week then went to Napa and had a blast there then caught a game at SBC Park against our SD Padres..What a great ballpark! First of all, the food is outstanding..from the best garlic fries to the best wine by the glass, or whatever type of beer you want in the world to all types of your non-typical ballpark food.. We got good seats up by third base but we bagged them and walked all around the park, eating and drinking and watching the game.. so I would do a cheap ticket and roam around..
The bus pick up from Union Square was a block away and dropped us off a block away...
Make sure you go to Lefty's Bar across the street from St. Francis Hotel.. Baseball bar from the 1900's that is a classic!!! We ran into alot of the Padres there because they stay at the St. Francis..
Have a great time!!
