San Diego Zoo: Dining at the zoo
I'm heading to San Diego on Friday and plan to spend a few hours at the zoo on Sunday. If I get hungry for lunch I may try one of the restaurants there. There are about 8 restaurants - any of them recommended over the others?
Thanks!
Monica
PS: I'll be at the Holiday Inn on the Bay - any recommendations for a good seafood place that's reasonably priced? Say $45 for a complete meal with a glass of wine?
Thanks!

HI..
I love to eat at the oyster bar at the Fish Market on the wharf down from your Hotel.. you can get chowder, mussels, sushi and all kinds of wonderful fresh fish goodies and get the flavor of SD..you have Anthony's across the street and being a local, I grew up with it but some people call it Fried Anthony's and I laugh but it is tradition to have a drink in the bar, the mai-tai rocks there and order a half bowl of chowder(red or white) and maybe a half order crab/avocado salad..yum! My husband and Dad swear by the fish-n-chips..
The view is killer and you can get a small table looking out to the bay..$45 would cover a couple of drinks and app and semi-entree including tip..You can eat outside a have it be half the amount but be careful of the seagulls..
Have a blast while you are in our wonderful town..
I wouldn't eat at the zoo even though I hear that Albert's is fantastic..
Do the zoo early..The Prado Restaurant in Balboa Park is wonderful for a tapa
and stroll the stunning gardens..

Thanks Tahititams! I'll have to check it out. I would love to dine al fresco. Yes, I'm planning to visit the zoo early on Sunday. Good idea about Balboa park. I bought the Top 10 San Diego book last night and am about 1/2 way through reading it. I did see 2 Spanish restaurants listed - would love to have some tapas or paella!

Monica,
We really liked Albert's which is located in the Treehouse complex next to Gorilla Tropics. Here's a link to all the dining at the zoo. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/zoo/dining.html
