San Diego Valentine's Day

My husband is going down to San Diego for a conference over the Presidents' Day Weekend. I'll join him on Valentine's Day. He's staying at the Hilton Bayfront. He will have a car.

Two questions:

1. From Amtrak SD to this Hotel, is there a tram or something that would take me there? I've looked and it appears there's something, but I can't quite figure it out. He may still be in a conference when I get there, so I need to be prepared that he won't be able to collect me from the station.

2. Any ideas of a nice Valentine's Day dinner? I need to make a reservation quickly. In the range of $75/each. Looking for a place that has decent atmosphere, not bright (we like low lights!), not too far from the hotel. Maybe Italian or French, with a warm vibe.

If you have questions before answering, please bring them on, with thanks!

SG

Find a San Diego Trolley Map online. You can use it to go from Amtrak station to the Hilton.

Thanks. Do you need a tap card or pay cash on board?

Re:trolley tickets. There are machines that sell them near the tracks or platform.
There are many excellent restaurants in Little Italy. Look at
, for Italian, Bencotto and Buon Appetito. For seafood, wonderful, Ironsides. It has a great vibe too.
Take trolley near there.

We actually dined at Bencotto a couple of years ago on Valtentine's Day. We just happened to be in town over that time frame, so had to eat somewhere. We normally hate going out on VDay, but we very much enjoyed this. We sat outside and it was very pleasant and did not have that cheezy VDay feeling at all.

As an update, I got us a reservation at Monello, next door to Bencotto . . . same family runs both places. It looks great!

Monello is very nice. We've eaten there and enjoyed it. The only drawback was our waiter wasn't very attentive. We had to wait a long time for our dinner. But the food is very good! Hope you have a great time.
