San Diego spoiled

I need something in a great location with wonderful beddings. Not a lot to ask, right? It's all about new. I could stay in a Motel 6 if it was new. Anyone know of any new or super nice hotel that's modern and clean? I almost rented a private condo, but after cleaning fee, tax, and deposit, I think I am better off with a hotel.

We thought US Grant, despite great service, mediocre. Hate the Gaslamp, etc. area.
The Shelter Island resort marina (now Kona Kai) was much better with a bargain rate. Why they charge for parking when free street parking is there on the curb remains a mystery.
It's only a few min drive to Thee Bungalow in Ocean Beach which is one of our fav restaurants.

Mike, have you stayed at the US Grant since it re-opened last October after a massive renovation?

julzieluv, you might also check out Tower 23 in Pacific Beach. It's about a year old, I think.

The US Grant is pretty steep now after the reopening but it is availible sometimes on Skyauction.com, I'd like to try it. I won a pretty decent deal for the Westgate Hotel. The Solamar is also a newer modern hotel offered on skyauction and others:

I'm with you julzieluv about wonderful new beddings!
US Grant just reopened in Oct. after $52 million in renovations..very pricey but had some deals for $349..
If you can find it at skyauction for cheaper, I would say go for it!
Tower 23 is somewhat new and oceanfront in PB that would work too..
Love Hotel Solamar..Kimpton Hotel
Kona Kai is an older hotel and even though its got a great location, I doubt they have new bedding..

mikemo..Thee Bungalow has changed hands to the Cohn Restaurant Group..which owns the Prado, Corvette Diner etc..still really good but thought you should know..

Not since Apr '04, but at the bargain rate of $349. a night, not inclined to stay there again, lol.
We had been going to Thee Bungalow since the mid 70's and I know it changed hands at least once before.
