Hi EmilyC..
There is a Tio Leo's that is good right off Mira Mesa Blvd and also a Border's Restaurant on Mira Mesa Blvd too..

For really good authentic Mex, I love Hacienda de Vega in Escondido..it is a hike but delicious..
haciendadevega.com
You can also go to an area in between Del Mar and Solana Beach called Eden Gardens and they have Fidel's and Don Chuy's along with Tony Jacal's.. all have great Mexican food..
Take 5 North to Via de la Valle go left and turn right at the Fish Market Restaurant/Stevens and then right on Valley avenue ..it is a couple of blocks up..
Roberto's Taco Shop in Solana Beach and Carmel Valley/Del Mar, IMO are the best Taco stands in SD...
I am getting hungry right now..
Fidel's makes the best Chile Relleno and an awesome Chicken Burrito..
Have fun and enjoy the food!

YOu have hit the right spot for great Mexican dining! If you want to go to the coast just north of where you will be, here are some suggestions...go to DEl mar Plaza to Epazote's and sit on the patio with their cuervo gold magaritas in the shakers... and taste some fine interesting twists on some Mexican favorites...Best take out is Roberto's (Torrey Pines, Solana Beach)- That has been the best take out for the last 40 years! other popular north county beach mexican spots are Los Olas and world-famous Fidels...Juanitas in Encinitas has great take out too. Fast fish tacos are at Rubio's, but the best are at The Brigintine which sits over the Del Mar racetrack. There are tons more..
After all, this is our food genre!
