San Diego - March Crowds & Weather

I'm in the preliminary stages of planning a trip to San Diego in March of 2005. I will be going to Sea World and the Zoo and would like to know what crowds are typically like around the late March/early April time frame.

Also, I looked up the average temps for March and the Weather Channel puts it at 66 degrees. However, I've found that for my area, the averages on WC seldom reflect real life, so I'd rather take the word of those who actually live in San Diego with regard to typical weather. Any input from residents?

crowds will be up with spring break however, nothing unbearable.
usually during that time of year, if you are inland the weather is suitable for shorts and t-shirt. closer to the ocean you may want long sleeves. however, we've enjoyed laying on the beach in marhc/april and have done whale watching trips and were comfortable in shorts.

That average seems about right, but remember it is an average. So, there will be days that are much warmer and some cooler. The ocean water will be very cold. The end of March is too early for school breaks, but the Zoo and Sea World are always busy.

I hate to ever disagree with anyone, but our spring break (Oklahoma) falls at the very middle of March each year. And that's for the entire state. It's mandated to be the same for everyone! (Imagine trying to use frequent flyer miles to get out of Oklahoma that week!). Have a good time!

Thanks.

I can handle crowds to an extent. I just don't like it when there's a crush of people and one is forced to move with the herd. I imagine that March crowds will probably be nothing compared to summer crowds. I also plan to go during the middle of the week, so that should help.

I was referring to Spring breaks in the San Diego area, as they seem to impact us most.

Always beware of citywide conferences downtown. Especially with so many hotel rooms concentrated.

Check the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau.
