Totally agree with Momddtravel about the Terrace at George's in La Jolla. If you go there go for lunch, because by the evening it will be dark and...not much view!

We love taking the double decker bus - sitting up top. It is so relaxing and a lovely way to see the Zoo.

I hope you enjoy San Diego as much as I love it there!

Yes, Barb - no reason to sit at night! But the lunch view... worth a million...

walk down and see the seals if you can as well rena - they are on the Children Pool area of La Jolla Cove. http://www.a-zsandiegobeaches.com/la...ldrenspool.htm

"What about checking out Sunset Cliffs/Point Loma instead of Old Town"

Yes indeed. Ocean Beach is a funky little town caught in a time warp. Very nice pier to walk out on with terrific views https://oceanbeachsandiego.com

Have fun.

Aliced mentioned the Cottage (La Jolla Village) and/or Piatti's (La Jolla Shores) both are excellent choices (The Cottage is open for breakfast and lunch until 3 or 4).

La Jolla - I would consider the La Jolla Cove - swimming is great and the water temps have been in the mid to low 70's which is very warm for SD beaches this last year.

Coronado - I like Tent City restaurant on 10th & Orange. I would definitely go to the Hotel Del Coronado they also have a little museum of the hotel downstairs.
You can also rent a bike or two at Holland's Bike around Orange & 10th as well and have a nice time bicycling around - check out the beach and the beautiful mansions along Ocean Blvd, Glorietta Blvd etc. They may have a map at the bike shop.

I personally would skip Pacific Beach. It's ok, but nothing worth a day on a Segway. It's flat and uninteresting IMHO.

I think the Wild Animal Park in Escondido is nice - they have a tram you can ride in and see the animals in the wild. I prefer the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park. I think you'd probably get more for your time visiting the Zoo in the morning (get their early) and then you'll have time to walk around the prado and see the lovely architecture in Balboa Park. It is a much nicer sightseeing day. There are numerous museums such as a Science Center, Natural History Museum, numerous art galleries etc. Plus it is an absolutely beautiful park setting.

Old Town is ok, but rather touristy. I'd spend maybe half a day there and catch a good Mexican café or restaurant for lunch.
