San Diego Condo

Sorry, had to post new message, unable to retrieve previous.
Need help deciding where to stay in Sandiego.
Have reservations at Scripps Inn in La jolla, but haven't heard much about it. Also, no pool or a/c there.
Saw an interesting condo advertised in Pacific Beach. Which would you recommend??
Would like nice place but also some amenities.
Any help appreciated!

Annie, I'm sorry you haven't had any responsess to your original post. Very few people here, including me, know anything about Scripps Inn. You don't give any details about the condo in PB. Is it right on the beach? Does it have a pool? AC is not important that close to the ocean. Would you prefer to be close to a beach? It's very hard for us to help with so little knowledge of your preferences.

my friend got married at the la jolla bowl, right across from scripps inn, in '99. i was in the wedding, and we got ready at the scripps inn. it's definitely a small little place, but depending on what you are looking for...it might be right for you. you couldn't ask for a better location in la jolla - right across from the la jolla bowl - which is a scenic area where a lot of weddings take place. the room we were in was simply furnished, but definitely modern. honestly, i never needed AC in san diego, and especially in la jolla. it's likely that you will be chilly in the evening. yes, ther e is no pool, but why would you want one when the gorgeous blue pacific and white sandy beaches are staring at you through a window? i don't know what you want, ultimately, out of a vacation. But Scripps Inn is quaint, charming and so well located that i can't imagine you being unhappy there.

if you want to party stay in PB. Or if you like to be around a lot of activity. If you want a little more peace and serentiy stay at the Scripps Inn. The la jolla bowl describe earlier is Cuvier Park and it's not really as big as you might think - a half circle about 70 feet in diameter. The Scripps Inn is walking distance to LJ Village so there's plenty of things to do, see, but and eat. In front is a series of long narrow parks on the cliffs (20-50 feet hight) overlooking the ocean with La Jolla Cove at the northern point. If you choose a condo in PB make sure it has parking and is not close to a bar or place where they play live music because the noise will keep you up all night. You won't need AC in LJ or PB unless the condo has a direct western exposure Scripps Inn faces North.

scripps inn is definitly going to be more classier then pacific beach. restaurants around there are expensive and there is not a really great place to swim around there.
pacific beach is a lot of fun and the "beach" is right there. much more activity, MUCH more casual and more variety of restaurants. however, there are nice condo and there are slum ones (personally, i'd stay in south mission rather then pacific beach if i were getting a condo.) another downside for me with a condo is if it is the main floor. people are going by constantly so you'd need to have your blinds closed if you want any privacy. an upper unit would be better. parking is a MUST. i'd get the address and post it here as well as lonleyplanet.com to get a better idea if it's in a good area or not.
