San Diego

My husband will be attending a conference in San Diego from Sept. 10 - 17th and I will be going along. Any tips on where to eat, what to see and what not to miss?

I would start with a guidebook.
I thought the Zoo was out of this world.

For dinner one night, South Beach Bar and Grille for the BEST mahi mahi fish tacos on earth! It will be crowded. Have a drink or two and be patient. Ocean Beach is right outside the door.
Then after dinner, head over to Sunset Cliffs, right down the road for a beautiful sunset.

Do a search on San Diego, and sit back and read the tons of information available in the archives.

We loved Cafe Chloe. I understand it gets pretty crowded. We walked in around 7 pm on a Sunday night and had our choice of tables. When we left, it was completely full with a short line at the door. Loved their mussels and the home made honeycomb ice cream.

Besides the zoo, Sea World is fun and so is the Wild Animal Park. Seaport Village is touristy but fun.

We spent two days in Balboa Park, and it wasn't enough. Didn't go to the Zoo because it's not our thing. Loved touring the USS Midway. There's an interesting harbor tour within walking distance. We liked taking a self-guided historical walking tour of ther Gaslamp District.

We'll be staying in the La Jolla area from 9/10 to 9/13, then checking in at The Manchester Grand Hyatt for the rest of the trip.
