San Antonio Lodging

We're planning a visit to see our son graduate from Basic Training at Lackland.
We were thinking of staying at the Holiday Inn Express because it's close to the base and is new, but the Radisson Hill Country Resort sounds nice too. We'll be there a day early, so we can relax and see some sites.

Can anyone tell me anything about the Holiday Inn Express or the Radisson, or recommend something else?

Lots of info on San Antonio and the Riverwalk, but I think the OP is looking for places close to Lackland AFB, which is on the Western side of the city.

My favorite is Hyatt Hill country resort - next to the Radisson. Much nicer property in my opinion. Great hotel grounds/pool to hang out by and enjoy, especially with kids. If you aren't spending much time at the hotel then it isn't as big a draw.

Here's one of the threads I was referring to in my earlier post. It has GREAT information on Lackland and San Antonio.

Hyatt also offers a timeshare option which you can rent nightly next to the Hill Country Resort. It has all the amenities plus you get extra space. Very nice.

The Radisson is located off 151 and is very close to Sea World. There's not a whole lot going on in the area--you'll find businesses like QVC, the Hyatt Hill Country Resort, Rudy's BBQ, a McDonalds but that's about it. The surrounding area is under some development but it remains fairly quiet.

Do you have an address for the Holiday Inn Express? There are so many new hotels in the area that I can't keep up them!

Congratulations to you and your son!

Okay, just did a google...if the location is Cinema Ridge the area is under heavy road construction so getting to / from the hotel, plus noise, may be an issue. I think you would be much better off at the Radisson or Hyatt Hill Country Resort where you can easily reach Lackland AFB and Downtown from 151.

If you've not already been there and are back ---

We stayed at and loved the Holiday Inn Express that's about a block from the River Walk. VERY convenient, much more spacious than many expresses, and their free cont'l breakfast was expanded to include spicy breakfast burritos, yum. Hope you have (had?) a good trip and congrats to your son. A hearty thank you to him for serving our country.
