San Antonio in 1 weeks (Spring Break)
My family is considering going to San Antonio for spring break (mar. 13-19). Any hotels ($250 tops) you could recommend? We had in mind Hyatt Regency Hill Country but all they have left are suites ($480 a night!). Maybe one of the Marriotts or something? Thanks!

Are you wanting something downtown, or out in the country? The Westin La Cantera is nice and actually fairly convenient on I-10. Downtown on the Riverwalk, there are TONS of choices. Be advised that unless it warms up QUICKLY, it will probably be too chilly for swimming in two weeks. Spring seems to be slow in arriving this year!

A suggestion......stay on the Riverwalk as most of the grrrreat hotels and restaurants are there. Try the La Mansion or the Fairmont hotel (both on the Riverwalk) My favorite is La Mansion, beautiful, with a Spanish flair.....and a wonderful restaurant..... You can walk everywhere or catch a river taxi. A wonderful mall by the new Marriott.
San Antonio is a well kept secret.....
Have fun!

Since the Hyatt Hill Country is full, we're thinking downtown. Unfortunately, I have already looked at La Mansion...and it was full too! It looked so nice, and it was a good price too. Actually, the Fairmount is completely booked too...
Which Marriott would you recommend more, the Riverwalk or the Rivercenter?
What about the Westin or the Gunter?
Thanks!

SA is getting more popular for Spring break so it's not surprising you are finding some places full.
Either Marriott is OK, they are across the street from each other. Westin is the newest of the properties, a pretty nice place. Gunter is OK, a couple blocks away from the main part of the Riverwalk but not bad. I just checked and www.hotels.com shows some vacancies for Hyatt HC resort...

Good news! I found out that La Mansion is not full! There are rooms available at www.hotels.com. That place does look great! I haven't booked yet, but its a definite possibility. Anything else ?

Try Priceline.com and put in as many stars as you can -- you can't specify the name but you can be assured of quality accomodations. Friends doing this have gotten the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Westin La Canterra for about $75 per night -- a real steal.
