Safest Cities in So. California?

Any type of web site that might give information as to what are the safest cities in Los Angeles and Orange County? (or opinions from locals is welcome!) Kris

Don't know if I'd list Hermosa and Manhattan Beaches as the safest places in So Cal. Just saw the news report that is warning women in the area that there is a serial rapist running around neighboring Torrance.

Hm, I heard there was one running around the Belmont areas of Long Beach, but I hadn't heard of one in Torrance. Where did you see this news report? I'd be interested in reading the details. (Or I'm sure it will be on the local news tonight then).

According to the FBI statistics, my home town of Mission Viejo, CA was rated as the safest town in America with a population over 50,000! For what its worth. We love it.

Patrick,
Is this actually documented? I too live in Mission Viejo but was not aware of this?? I'd love to read the article. Thanks, Candy

Irvine is pretty safe. Here's the link of the 25 most safest city, including many cities in CA.

After reviewing safe cities 2002 list throughout the USA, California actually has many that hit the top list...some that I recall are: Mission Viejo, Irvine, Fullerton, Atherton, Simi Valley, Pleaston, Livermore (sorry but I believe some of these are actually in Northern California)...I'm not that familiar with California but I'm POSITIVE I read the above cities on the most recent list.
Santa Barbara and Temecula may have been on the list as well....?? (wish I'd safed it...but I'm positive of the ones mentioned above!)
As I recall, many of the cities that were on the 2002 list were all located within Orange County if this is any help.
Good Luck!
Gina

Simi Valley is in Ventura County, just north of L.A.. Thousand Oaks and Simi have been rated #1/2 in the nation the past several years (over 100,000 people). I have heard that Mission Viejo is very safe, as is much of suburban south Orange County (Irvine, etc.)
