Sacramento area GTG

For some reason I can't top the thread. It isn't frozen but new posts don't "take". So re-posting if others are interested.

A week or so ago Kal, mrs. Kal, Cobbie and I met for dinner and among all the other shmoozing/yakking we talked about putting together a Sacramento GTC.

No decisions about where/when - except that maybe somewhere in mid-town might be most convenient/central (or maybe "equally inconvenient") for everybody from Roseville to Placerville to Vacaville

The Holidays are rapidly approaching (Gawd - WHERE did the year go??? ) so we may be looking as far out as Jan or Feb.

So - who's game? Any suggestion re venue, when, or anything else?

DH and I are game. We are on the road for the next two months. (One long vacation and and two short ones). Late January or Feb. is good for us.

Just let us know what you decide.

Three vacations - lucky you

I think Feb is best for the Kal's too.

I may be able to come. I hope not to be around during Thanksgiving but otherwise I am open on dates.

If on weekend, I can pop up

February is better for me as I'll be out of the country in New Mexico in January

Do you have your visa and shots?

Hope you can make it. We'll post details later but a weekend could make sense

Would other Fodorites be interested in doing a mystery dinner on Delta King? Just a thought

That might be fun. Haven't done one of those in years.

I'll be darned! janisj, I didn't know you were in N.Cal. Guess I always think of you hovering around in cyberspace somewhere over the UK since your advice is always so up to date.

I'm returning to Oxford for another 3 weeks again this summer with the Oxford/Berkeley program, so you'll probably see me posting this spring looking for advice.

I'll try to make the GTG in Feb.

Hi janisj, I would love to join up with all of you but as Cobbie, Kal and toedtoes know I am not driving on the freeway at this time thanks (I say with a frown) a cataract which is not ready (sigh) to be operated on. So unless some Fodorite is coming through Vacaville on I-80 and wouldn't mind picking me up it would not be possible for me to join you as much as I would love to.

BTW, have you thought about joining us for the SF GTG this coming November 10th? Toedtoes and I will be there and I am sure Specs will be attending also.

LoveItaly: I'd love to come down that way - but a lot of complicating "issues" just now. I've been lurking over the SF GTG threads but can't commit to anything except for last minute for the next month or so. We have a lot of time before a Sac GTG so we can probably get transport sorted out for you.

specs: Yep - I'm stuck in NorCal when my heart is in England But I usually do get back there a couple of times a year. (if truth be told my heart is really in the Trossachs in Scotland )

Hi janisj, I sure understand, I have been in the same situation myself.

BTW, Cobbie and Kal both have my email address. And you probably have theirs. So "tell" one of them to give you mine. I would love to hear from you as I always enjoy your posts. And I do hope it works out I can join all of you in Sacramento..that would be so much fun!

I'm interested depending on my schedule.

Love - I'm sure we can work out something to get you up this way.

Hey toeds, we will have to be sure to behave well enough this Saturday evening in SF so that they will let us attend the Sacramento GTG!
