RVs are not very good vehicles in the mountains. They often go very slow up the big hills, and accumulate a long line of cars behind them. I remember several trips where we got "stuck" behind a slow-moving RV in the mountains.
Also, don't forget to count in the cost of gas, which isn't cheap these days. The bigger Rvs get horrible gas mileage! You might come out a lot less expensive to rent a bigger SUV and stay in hotels.
