Round Top, TX antique markets
#6
If you haven't been before I imagine your jaw will drop when you get there. It's quite amazing.
Of course, you can never know the weather until right before but if it's going to be warm be prepared with hats and sunscreen. I've been miserably hot in the spring and the fall. But it's oh-so-worth-it!
The original Round Top Antique Show was (and still is, I believe) a 3 day show. That one started 30 years ago and now there are thousands of other vendors there and it has expanded to include the town of Warrenton and a couple of others. I remember hearing there were over 5,000 vendors from all over the US and a couple of other countries. They estimate 20,000 - 30,000 visit twice each year to sell/buy. This year the dates of some of the other big shows are March 30th to April 3rd and then again Sept 28th to Oct 2nd. If you go mid-week you'll be able to see much more than on the weekend. We usually go Wed/Thur/Fri and avoid the weekend entirely. I think it's about 4 or 5 miles between Round Top and Warrenton and on a Saturday it may take 45 minutes or longer to drive that distance.
One website for one of the big shows is http://www.roundtop-marburger.com/
This place charges an entry fee. There are many other places to go that don't charge a fee.
Have fun and I hope you find many treasures!
