My two year anniversary is coming up in October and I'm looking for a place to take a 3 day weekend with my DH. We've taken two big (for us) trips this summer, but I do want to do something to mark the occasion.

We've experienced Charleston, Savannah, Amelia, Jekyll, St. Simons, St. Augustine and Celebration. I'm looking for another choice. The beach doesn't hold much appeal so thus far I've stayed away from the florida panhandle.

I'm looking for a place where we can unwind, explore, possibly ride bikes, browse some unique shops etc. Not looking for golf or other activities.

We are in the Jacksonville area and would like to drive. Any inspiration for me?

I think you have described Mt. Dora, a quaint town located on lakes north of Orlando. Lots of quaint shops, antiques, hills for that bike ride, charming bed and breakfast spots.

Also, Highlands and Cashiers in North Carolina are very nice.

by the way, some ok (not fabulous but I'm super picky) restaurants are here. Ceciles has live jazz on weekends and you can sit outside at this little french bistro. Afternoon tea is another fun thing to do here.

Perhaps you've already been to Mt. Dora as it is a weekend getaway for many in Florida. Antidote to Disney and too much beach.

lots of very lovely bed and breakfasts. Darst Inn and Magnolia Inn are two I could recommend but it has been a while. I'd do a google search for b&bs for Mt Dora and also check here by searching by name for Mt Dora as I think it has been discussed before for a weekend like you have described. LMF
