I always thought the most romantic restaurant in Ft. Myers was the Verandah, particularly sitting out in the patio.

There are different interpretations of romantic, but I'd think another option is sitting out on the beach in the moonlight by candlelight. The Turtle Club or Baleen, both on Vanderbilt Beach fits that. Go just at sunset.

Thistle Lodge on Sanibel.

Verandah (but I'm not that high on their food...they really need to ramp it up a little) The house is charming and the bar is fun.

A tiny place in a little strip mall off 41, Trattoria di Napoli, is very romantic. Only a few tables and everything is lovely. Paella Valenciana is awesome. There's a dish made for love.

I still love Baleen in Naples but you never know about the food there. Sometimes sublime, other times, soso. The decor and ambiance are very romantic and with enough champagne, who cares about food.

Patrick, I think you'd love La Trattoria Cafe Napoli. It reminds me of some of the old Village restaurants before the foodie thing took over. Super charming and the owner supervises all, including service. HG

Again, depending on your definition of romantic, we enjoyed our 5th anniversary at Artisans at the Ritz carlton. It was amazing-- excellent food, excellent service, but very pricey and no view. i would definitely suggest it for a special occasion.
