Romantic New England getaway
Hi there,
I'm looking for a 2-3 night weekend away at a romantic resort in New England for our anniversary in March. I'd like to go on recommedation rather than trusting a website.
I'm in Connecticut so any where in a 2-3 radius is ideal.
Thank you for your suggestions!

If you're thinking city, Portland Maine is great. Might be a little cold in March...but then again, anywhere in New ENgland might be cold in March. Portland has countless restaurants (many of them small + romantic), and the Old Port has a ton of shopping. Freeport (shopping outlets + LL Bean) is only 20 minutes north.

There are plenty of nice hotels in Portland...but if you're looking for something a little more "resort-ish", or more "upscale" try Cape Elizabeth - only a 10 minute drive to Portland....and it has Two Lights State Park, as well as Fort Williams...great places to go to see the rocky Maine shoreline...

Personally in March I would go to Boston. There are some beautiful hotels and great restaurants. You probably have been here a million times but there's always so much to do. Skate under the lights on the Frog Pond
Enjoy the indoor garden at the Isabelle Stewart Gardner Museum.
Stroll along the banks of the Charles.
But if its a resort you want then how about Stage Neck Inn in York Harbor Maine or Chatham Bar Inn on the Cape.

Don't book anything non-changeable as roads could still be covered with snow well into March, especially up in Maine. They haven't had a lot of snow this year - YET.
