A romantic and truly top-notch B&B is 2 Meeting Street but certainly not inexpensive. The home was built as a wedding present and took severalyears to build. It's on the battery with wonderful views. I also like Vendue Inn - smaller, cheaper, closer to restaurants, etc but I thought very romantic. They have an intimate restaurant and a great rooftop bar for drinks at sunset. The tourist season won't be in full swing in April so no where will be really 'touristy.' My hubby's alltime fav is Magnolia's. We've had some really nice dinners there. Very regional as far as cuisine. I've heard the Peninsula Grill is fabulous for dinner, but I haven't been there myself. We love Slightly North of Broad - especially at lunch.

The recommendations Denise gave are excellent. We have been staying in Charleston every year for about 20 years and love it. I would add the John Rutledge House and Maison DuPre to Denise's suggestions. We love Poogan's Porch and 86(?)Queen as well as Magnolias and Slightly North of Broad (SNOB).
